President of Uruguay's Broad Front Visits BJTU

On May 27, 2025, Party Secretary Chen Ziji met with Fernando Pereira, President of Uruguay's Broad Front, at Siyuan Building. Vice President Gao Liang also attended.

Chen Ziji welcomed the delegation, highlighting the university’s international collaborations and the successful partnership with the University of the Republic of Uruguay, especially through the Uruguay Research Center. He expressed hopes for deeper cooperation in talent development and cultural exchange.

Pereira introduced the Broad Front and Uruguay’s rail transit progress, emphasizing a strong interest in collaboration on student education, training, and transportation technologies.

The delegation engaged with faculty and students regarding potential future collaboration during their visits to the Uruguay Research Center and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Rail Autonomous Operation. Since 2017, Uruguay, a critical member of Mercosur and a strategic associate of China, has maintained robust academic relationship with the university.

Uruguay is a critical member of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mercosur. Uruguay's governing party is the Broad Front. The university has been instrumental in the establishment of the first "Uruguay Research Center" in China, which has served to enhance bilateral comprehension, since 2017. In recent years, the university has been visited by a number of senior Uruguayan officials.
