北京时间12月8日凌晨2时23分，中国在西昌卫星发射中心用长征三号乙运载火箭成功发射嫦娥四号探测器，开启了中国月球探测的新旅程。

【背景资料】

嫦娥四号后续将经历地月转移(Earth-Moon Transfer)、近月制动(first braking at perilune)、环月飞行(circumlunar Flight)，最终实现人类首次月球背面软着陆(soft-landing on Moon’s far side/ dark side)，开展月球背面就位探测(in-situ exploration)及巡视探测(patrol detection)，并通过已在使命轨道(mission orbit)运行的“鹊桥”中继星(DRS – Data Relay Satellite) 实现月球背面与地球之间的中继通信(achieve relay communications between…)。

航天专家称，月球背面具有独特的电磁场环境（Electromagnetic Field）和地质特征(Geographical Features)，特别适合开展低频射电探测（low frequency radio study）等空间天文学(Space Astronomy) 研究和月球物质成分探测(Lunar Matter Component Detection)等科学研究。月球背面着陆探测尚属国际空白，也有利于增进人类对宇宙未知奥秘(Unknown mysteries of the Cosmos)的认知。

据中国国家国防科技工业局(State Administration of Science. Technology and Industry for National Defense)、国家航天局(China National Space Administration)介绍，嫦娥四号任务的工程目标，一是研制发射月球中继通信卫星，实现国际首次地月拉格朗日L2点(the Earth-moon L2 Lagrangian point)的测控及中继通信；二是研制发射月球着陆器(Luna Lander)和巡视器(Rover)，实现国际首次月球背面软着陆和巡视探测。

嫦娥四号的科学任务主要是开展月球背面低频射电天文观测与研究；开展月球背面巡视区形貌(Landscape)、矿物组份(Mineral Composition)及月表浅层结构探测与研究(Shallow Lunar Surface Structural Detection & Analysis)；试验性开展月球背面中子辐射剂量(neutron radiation)、中性原子(neutral atoms)等月球环境探测研究。

为增进国际交流与合作，扩大开放共享，嫦娥四号任务中，与荷兰、德国、瑞典、沙特开展了4项科学载荷（Scientific Payload）方面的国际合作，搭载了3项由哈尔滨工业大学、中山大学、重庆大学等国内高校研制的科学技术试验项目。
