【词义解释】

国家最高科学技术奖（State Preeminent Science and Technology Award）正式设立于2000年，由国家科学技术奖励委员会主办。国家最高科学技术奖是中国五个国家科学技术奖中最高等级奖项（the highest scientific award），每年评审一次，每次授予不超过两名科技成就卓著、社会贡献巨大的个人（no more than two individuals with outstanding achievements and great social contribution），由国家主席亲自签署、颁发荣誉证书和500万元高额奖金（a prize of 5 million yuan）。

【背景资料】

国家科学技术奖励大会8日在京举行。南京理工大学王泽山院士和中国疾病预防控制中心（Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention）病毒病预防控制所侯云德院士获得2017年度国家最高科学技术奖，这是我国最高科学荣誉。

82岁的王泽山是中国工程院院士，他因在火炸药方面的研究被尊称为“火药王”（King of Explosive）。他60多年来专注于研究火炸药，带领团队发展了火炸药的理论与技术，突破了多项世界性的瓶颈技术（Technology bottleneck），一系列重大发明应用于武器装备和生产实践（Military and civilian application），为我国火炸药从跟踪仿制到进入创新发展做出了重要贡献，书写了我国火炸药实力进入世界前列的传奇。

88岁的侯云德也是中国工程院院士，他是我国现代分子病毒学研究（Molecular virus research）的奠基人。他带领专家组，设计了2008—2020年降低“三病两率”和应对重大突发疫情的总体规划，主导建立了举国体制协同创新的传染病防控技术体系（Disease Control and Prevention System），全面提升了我国新发突发传染病（Emergent infectious disease）的防控能力。
